You could have the chance to invite Kara to come in-person to visit your own school for students of all ages! Both teachers AND students will enjoy an interactive presentation and reading of “Sweet ‘n’ Sour,” tailored for ages 4-8, AND from sections of Kara’s debut novel “Not Just a Simple Chinese Girl.”

I’ve had the privilege of receiving invitations to many Chicago Public Schools in hopes of inspiring the students in the classroom to pursue their dreams with hard work and determination. The feedback from both teachers and students have been positive! I was touched to see that one third-grade teacher had sent me a picture of her student’s project, showcasing me as her favorite author! It got students reading and dreaming.

I aspire to share the richness and beauty of my Chinese-American culture through the written word, inspiring others to do the same. Whether that’s in connecting with local sponsors in Chinatown during the Chinatown Fair, visiting the local schools in Chinatown, or presenting a book talk at the Chinese-American Museum of Chicago.
